2nd grade Lesson 15..........Self Control

We enjoyed the following book together today and discussed it:

This was a great visual from our book about how to control our impulses:

We also talked about flipping our lids:

All the parts of my brain are connected and working together. It is almost like the upper part of my brain is hugging my amygdala and it feels safe; my pre-frontal cortex is doing it’s job and being in charge! I am in control!

My amygdala doesn’t  feel safe any longer and my pre-frontal cortex isn’t in charge.  I can easily ‘flip my lid’ and my emotions may get really big. I am not in control!

Germ experiment...........

I did an experiment to help show the kids how quickly germs can spread from our hands to other items........and why it is so very important ...
