We talked about flipping our lids:
All the parts of my brain are connected and working together. It is almost like the upper part of my brain is hugging my amygdala and it feels safe; my pre-frontal cortex is doing it’s job and being in charge! I am in control!
My amygdala doesn’t feel safe any longer and my pre-frontal cortex isn’t in charge. I can easily ‘flip my lid’ and my emotions may get really big. I am not in control!
