1st grade lesson 3........Learning about our brains and our senses

Mindful Awareness happens when we give our brains time to respond (think) to what we see and hear
Think about a time you’ve been angry and you’ve counted to 10……by the time we get to 10, we usually feel better ~ we just gave our brain some time to respond
What do you think is happening in your brain when we give it time to respond (think)?

We learned about the word ~ REFLECT.....it means giving my body and brain some time to think.

Be sure to ask your child about the LISTENING AND FEELING activities we did together during our lesson this week.

     Being MINDFUL takes a lot of practice
–Let’s start with THINKING before we SPEAK
–Take a deep breath and count when you get upset
–Be calm and LISTEN
–Pay attention and focus on the TASTE of foods
–Pay attention and focus on what you SEE and SMELL
Think about what you FEEL with your hands
