2nd grade lesson 8........Mindful Breathing

We talked about our breathing patterns and how our bodies just know to breath, but we can control or clam our breathing when it gets fast.

We talked about the following together:

When I am angry, frustrated, scared, nervous or unsure ~ my heart rate will be FAST and QUICK

When I am calm, happy, ready to learn and feeling loved ~ my heart rate will be STEADY AND SLOWER

After having a discussion, we read the following book together:


The kids did a great job at making connections to the book and how they can control their thoughts and actions!

I did an experiment to help show the kids how quickly germs can spread from our hands to other items........and why it is so very important ...
