2nd grade lesson 7..............Mindful Tasting

Today, we reviewed what it means to be Mindful:

to focus
to concentrate
to pay attention
to think before we speak

We talked about the connections that neurons make in our brains from our taste buds/mouths to our brains. Those connections either wake up our brain and make it active to do my work, or it makes me feel yucky and not able to focus.

Tastes are either good or bad when the connections are made in our brains.

We reflected how our brains felt ~ were we doing our best listening and being mindful? We then tasted peppermint lifesavers and talked about how we felt at that time.

We talked about that scientists have done studies and shared with us that sometimes peppermint helps to wake our brains up and make us more alert!

Germ experiment...........

I did an experiment to help show the kids how quickly germs can spread from our hands to other items........and why it is so very important ...
