What my body does automatically:
Breaths
Pumps Blood
Digests Food
I am grateful that my body just knows what to do! That means I can spend my time helping my brain do what it is supposed to do!
Here are some ideas that 1st graders came up with for the following:
When I am calm ~
my body will feel peaceful, relaxed and sleepy
my breathing will be steady, calm and slower
my face might look tired, happy and quiet
my brain will be thinking, still working and thinking about other things
When I am stressed ~
my body will feel scared, sad, lazy and confused
my body will feel scared, sad, lazy and confused
my breathing will be fast
my face might look different, weird, confused, sad and worried
my brain will be confused and probably not doing it's job
What is gratitude?
Gratitude is the Best Attitude =
Using manners
Being thankful
Being happy
Feeling good about yourself
Being ready to learn
Having a focused brain
Listening and following directions
ACTIVITY*:
Turn to a classmate and given them a compliment!
How did it feel to give one?
How did it feel to get one?
*Another 1st grade class told me that it felt really good to both give and receive a compliment. One girl told me that she felt grateful because someone cared enough to give her a compliment!
My heart was exploding with these ideas/answers they shared!!!
