We are learning about Community Helpers at Miller.
A community helper is a person that works in our community and helps us out. We were able to name some of the following helpers that we have at Miller:
School Nurse
Principal
Teachers
Secretary
Custodian
Bus Drivers
School Counselor
Playground Assistants
Cook/Head of Cafeteria
I asked the students to play a game with me this year........I asked them to think about the job they want to do when they grow up. I then asked them to think about the problems they will solve in that job. They then shared those problems with me and I tried to guess their job. Here are some of the examples they shared:
Help people learn = a teacher
Help keep people safe = a police officer
Put out fires = a fireman
Solve mysteries or crimes = a police detective
Make others happy = a rock star
Teach others about dance = a dance teacher
Taking care of sick animals = a veterinarian
The students will enjoy the following book during the class lessons to support and continue our community helper conversations:
Our Vehicle Day will be May 1st at Miller. The students will get to visit each guest and learn how they use their vehicle in their job as a community helper.
