Career Lessons at Craddock.......

We are learning about Jobs and Careers in 1st and 2nd grade.

We are talking about why we need a JOB.....
to earn money for the things we need:

To buy Food, Clothes and Shelter

We are also talking about the difference between a JOB and a CAREER........
a JOB is something we do to earn money; a CAREER is a job we do for a long period of time.

We also talked about GOALS, which are targets we set for ourselves that we want to reach or get better at.

I asked the students to play a game with me this year........I asked them to think about the job they want to do when they grow up. I then asked them to think about the problems they will solve in that job. They then shared those problems with me and I tried to guess their job. Here are some of the examples they shared:

Help people learn = a teacher
Help keep people safe = a police officer
Help people who are sick = a doctor or nurse
Put out fires = a fireman
Solve mysteries or crimes = a police detective
Make others happy = a rock star
Teach others about dance = a dance teacher
Taking care of sick animals = a veterinarian
Teaching and Learning about Ocean Animals = a marine biologist
Create things like medicines = a scientist
Study how the body works = a biologist
Working with numbers = an accountant
