Head Thoughts VS. Mouth Thoughts

In some Kindergarten classrooms and 1st grade, we have been discussing the difference between Head Thoughts and Mouth Thoughts!

Please take a moment and review with your child(ren) that the things that may HURT someone or may not be helpful, should be kept in our brain; we may think them but we shouldn't repeat them.  The things that may HELP someone or make them feel good about themselves are things we should say.

Examples of both are listed below this photo. The examples of the head thoughts are actual things students have been saying to one another which prompted me to focus on this topic.

Head Thoughts ~ "Sam said he doesn't like you"; "You cannot be my friend because you don't have a big house like I do"; "My lunchbox is cooler than your lunchbox"; "That is a really ugly shirt you have on today"; "You bring some stupid things for lunch ~ why don't you eat normal"; "We cannot have a play date together because you don't have a princess room like I do"; "You don't know how to do Math so you cannot play with us today"; "We are playing it my way all of the time and not your way because you aren't good at this game"; "You cannot be friends with him because he wears his snow pants all day"

Mouth Thoughts ~ "You really are good at playing this game"; "We are supposed to be at the carpet"; "Thank you for helping me"; "That is a nice shirt you have on today"; "I need some help"; "Please stop bothering me"; "Can I play with you"; "Do you need some help"; "Can we be friends"

Germ experiment...........

I did an experiment to help show the kids how quickly germs can spread from our hands to other items........and why it is so very important ...
