Career Lessons at Miller...........

This week, we are starting to discuss Jobs and Careers at Miller!

During our class lessons, we are discussing why we need to have a job (to earn money to buy the things we NEED ~ food, shelter and clothing).  After we pay for the things we NEED and if we have money left over, we can possibly purchase items that we may WANT.

I asked the students this year to really think about 'what problems they'd like to solve when they get older; what they'd like to do', instead of 'what they want to be when they grow up.'

We talked about the different professions/jobs we can find in our
Miller Elementary School ~

Chef
Principal
Teacher
Secretary
School Counselor
School Nurse
Custodian
Librarian

I then gave the students 'homework'.......when they visit Heinen's with you, they are to point out all of the different professions/jobs that can be found there:

Chef
Baker
Florist
Cashier
Custodian
Stock Person
Butcher

Please feel free to use the following video as a conversation starter with your students when discussing what problems they may want to solve when they get older; what they'd like to do:

Next week (April 18th), we will enjoy the following story together ~ 'When I Grow Up':

On Monday, May 2nd, Miller will host their 11th Annual Vehicle Day! Stay tuned for photos from that exciting day!

Germ experiment...........

I did an experiment to help show the kids how quickly germs can spread from our hands to other items........and why it is so very important ...
