During my 1st grade visits this week (week of 10-7), we are enjoying this book together:
The students in the book learn about acts of kindness and how it makes other people feel when you do something nice for them. Ideas are shared throughout the book about different acts of kindness.
As I finish my lesson, I have shared with the students that I performed 45 Random Acts of Kindness in honor of turning 45 last year leading up to my birthday. I also gave them 'homework' ~ they were to go home and do acts of kindness for their families!
I am thrilled to report that I have received several reports from parents that the students are taking this assignment very seriously . . . one student actually started keeping a 'helping journal' so he can keep track of all the nice things he is doing for others! What a grand idea!
