Lessons on bullying for grades K-2 . . .

Please be sure to ask your student what we are learning about in regards to bullying. Listed below are the small video clips we've watched and discussed during our class time together:

2nd Grade: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTNVXlirF4Y and we are reading the book 'Nobody Knew What to Do.' The video clip is a review of the book we read together last year, 'Don't Laugh At Me.'

Some of the things are are discussing in our class lessons are as follows:

Kindergarten: What is a bully? (a person who is mean) What can a bully do to hurt us? (they can hurt us with their words or bodies) What do we do if a bully hurts us? (we can use our words and ask them to stop and if they don't stop we need to get help from an adult)

1st Grade*: What is a bully? (a person who is mean) Who can a bully be? (a friend, someone we know or a stranger) What can a bully do to hurt us? (they can hurt us with their words, bodies or actions) What do we do if a bully is hurting us or a friend? (we use our words and tell them to stop ~ if they don't stop, we need to get help from an adult) Does anyone have the right to hurt us? (no ~ never!? What are the names of the people involved in bullying? (Bully - the person hurting another person; Victim - the person getting hurt; By-Stander or Helper - the person or people who either help the victim or go get some help)

*We are also using the Audience Response Systems (clickers) during some of our 1st & 2nd grade lessons . . . the kids are loving them!!! They are also getting a kick out of the role playing we are doing during our class time together!
