Zones of Regulation ~

We held refresher sessions at Craddock and then introduction sessions at Miller for our Zones of Regulation this week.

The Zones of Regulation help us to self-monitor our bodies and brains for learning:

Green Zone ~ Our bodies and brains are READY TO LEARN because we are feeling happy, proud, kind, can focus, listen, etc.

Blue Zone ~ Our bodies and brains may be running a little slow because we are feeling tired, sad, worried, etc. and we may need to RESTART

Yellow Zone ~ Our bodies and brains may start running a little faster than usual because we are feeling excited, jealous, unsure, etc. and we may need to be CAUTIOUS and slow down some.

Red Zone ~ Our bodies and brains may be running really fast or almost out of control because we are feeling angry, super excited, etc. and we may need to STOP and take a break and calm down.

None of our zones, colors or feelings are a bad thing. We just all need to learn what to do with those feelings when we are having them and how to ask for help if we need assistance getting Ready to Learn. By the end of year, we all should have a tool box of strategies or tools that will help us when we know our bodies and brains aren't ready to learn!

Our Kindergarten friends enjoyed the book "I Have Feelings" and then shared ideas about those feelings! They did a great job with problem solving which zone that feeling might be found in, too!

Our 1st grade friends enjoyed the book "How I Feel" and then shared ideas about those feelings; our 2nd grade friends shared different feelings and what zones they might go in, as well as worked with a partner about different feelings they have had before!

Germ experiment...........

I did an experiment to help show the kids how quickly germs can spread from our hands to other items........and why it is so very important ...
