Class lesson update.........

(11-23-15) Some classrooms are possibly behind a lesson or two due to different schedules, but for the most part, listed below is what we continue to work on together:

Kindergarten ~ We discussed making mistakes and that it is okay to make a mistake; they shared with me that if you keep making the same mistake over and over again, it then becomes a choice and not a mistake! We read "Beautiful Oops" together.

We discussed the difference between tattling vs. telling and enjoyed the book "Don't Squeal Unless it is a Big Deal" together and then shared different ideas or scenarios of tattling vs. telling.

1st grade ~ We discussed the difference between tattling and telling and learned about the tattle rules from the book, "A Bad Case of Tattle Tongue". The tattle rules are:
1.)  Be a Danger Ranger
2.)  Be a Problem Solver
3.)  Now or Later
4.)  M.Y.O.B. - Mind Your Own Business (or Beeswax)
We also enjoyed the following video together about tattling vs. telling: https://youtu.be/Igyl0WO2mXM?list=PL4E08971F59FF701B

We reviewed acts of kindness and the book "Kindness is Cooler, Mrs. Ruler", which I read via a video recording for them during our 'Socktober' event.

2nd grade ~  Here is a picture that we discovered in our book "I Can't Believe You Said That", which discussed our social filter and how we have to filter what we have in our thinking bubble through our social filter and then speak what is in our talking bubble.
I made a wall-size version to help us remember to stop and think before we speak.

We also learned about perseverance and watched the following video: https://youtu.be/DNwRIRmIysg
We discussed how it is our responsibility to not give up when things become challenging for us.  A 2nd grade student recently shared the following statement with me....."Don't let fear guide you!"
When I inquired whether his amazing teacher gave him those words before or if they came from his brain ~ he said they came from his brain! Then I asked if I could quote him on my blog, he asked if I would put his name, too.  So thank you, Ethan, for sharing your insights with us!!!

Germ experiment...........

I did an experiment to help show the kids how quickly germs can spread from our hands to other items........and why it is so very important ...
